Pleomorphic
adenoma
It
is the most common tumor of the salivary glands, its favorite site
being the parotid glands, but may present itself in the minor salivary
glands of the palate, lips, tongue, buccal mucosa and floor of the
mouth. When present in these last locations, they are of firm consistency,
freely movable when palpated (except in the palate), painless and
covered with normal mucosa to which they do not adhere. In its intraoral
location, recession is not common and malignant transformation is
very rare.
