Candidiasis
It is a superficial
acute or chronic infection which affects the mucosa, brought
about by the yeast Candida
albicans. It
is characterized by the appearance of whitish pseudomembranes
resembling milk curds, easy to remove, leaving bleeding
surfaces, accompanied by pain and halitosis.
Sometimes the disease has different characteristics,
the buccal mucosa taking on a reddish, dry aspect, which
we call the erythematous variety.
