For
the protection of our patients this Clinic demands that all personnel
follow the most recent regimen of Universal Precautions of the Center
for Disease Control in Atlanta, USA:
Preparation for treatment:
1.-Auxillary
personnel is vaccinated against Hepatitis B.
2.-There
is a manual detailing the infection control program and all personnel
receives initial training and periodic refreshment courses.
3.-
All patients must complete a complete and detailed medical history
(confidential) which is carefully revised by the doctor. Only
by knowing our patients and our staff can we offer the most complete,
safest treatment.
During patient treatment:
1.-All
staff members must wash their hands with germicidal soap before
and after treatment.
2.-All
staff members must use gloves during treatment and support procedures;
these are discarded after each patient.
3.-All
staff members must use a mask and safety glasses during treatment
and support procedures.
4.-During
the necessary procedures we will supply the patients with sterile
safety glasses.
5.-All
personnel must use robes during patient treatment and support
procedures.
6.-After
eache patient’s treatment is completed, we discard disposable
dental materials which have been used and wash and spray all exposed
surfaces with a hospital-grade disinfectant, to insure that there
are no remaining pathogens.
Other surfaces are covered by a plastic layer which is
discarded after every use.
7.-Nondisposable
instruments are meticulously washed in the ultrasonic cleaner
and later sterilized in an autoclave or special ovens.
We check our sterilizers routinely with microbial testing
from Biological Monitoring Services in the USA.
Heat sensitive instruments are placed in cold sterilizing
solutions.
8.-Radiographic
machines with special filters to minimize secondary radiation
are utilized for radiographic procedures, and all patients are
protected by a lead apron.
For the protection of staff
members during radiographic procedures dosimeters are worn
(Radiation Detection Company, USA) which measure radiation exposure.
