fissuratum
It
is a vegetative lesion very common in the soft tissues
of the maxillary and mandibular mucobuccal fold of edentulous
patients. The affected area is generally inflamed, presents a soft, reddish
tissue growth in the shape of one or more elongated rolls
occurring parallel to the border of the prosthesis,
on occasion various folds may form; sometimes they
might ulcerate, producing pain and easily bleeding.
They are most commonly found in the anterior segment
of the mucobuccal fold.
It is provoked by chronic irritation of ill-adapted
prosthesis with overextended or broken borders, in this
case sharp and cutting.
