| Irritation
fibroma
It
is a localized growth composed of connective tissue, appearing frequently
in the oral cavity, related to chronic, continuous irritation. It
presents as a sole lesion which is sessile or pedunculated, of spherical
or hemi-spherical shape, the same color of the surrounding mucosa,
except when modified by traumatism.
The surface is shiny and the consistency is variable.
It is habitually found in the buccal mucosa, lips and tongue.
A similar variety is described in the gingiva as peripheral
odontogenic fibroma.
