This
entity very frequently appears in the oral cavity, sometimes
acquiring an enormous size in a short period of time.
It presents as a sole, elevated lesion localized in the
lips, tongue, buccal mucosa, but mainly in the gingiva; either
with a sessile or pedunculated base, round, semispherical or
lobulated, of soft consistency and dark red or purple color.
The surface is smooth and glossy, and erodes and bleeds
easily when traumatized.
Intraorally it presents a whitish/yellowish exudate of
purulent aspect and in the labial semimucosa (lips) it forms
bloody scabs. |
