| Dilantin
induced gingival hyperplasia
It
is characterized by a generalized fibrous hyperplasia of the gingivae,
which might, in its most severe form, cover the crowns of the teeth
and cause the lips to evert, migration of the teeth and interfere
with dental eruption. The etiologic factor is the ingestion of diphenylhydantoin (Dilantin sodium),
used in the treatment of epilepsy.
