| The
bitten mucosa is an alteration of normal tissue
characterized by the whitish aspect with multiple
erosions, abrasions and slight sloughing of the
most superficial layers of the mucosa.
The affected tissue is paler, whitish and
rough with desquamation and loss of substance due
to tearing of the superficial mucosa.
It affects the buccal mucosa, lips and tongue
wherever they can be reached by the patient´s bite.
It is common in patients suffering from anxiety.
