It i san inflammation
of the major salivary glands and is usually associated with the formation
of stones (sialolithiasis) and inflammation of the major salivary
ducts. It presents as swelling, reddening and pain in the affected
gland, which might exude a purulent exudates through its duct opening
when milked. Symptoms may become acute before and during meals as
the glands augment in volume. The most affected gland is the submaxillary and incident
is higher in males than females
