IIt
is a rare lesion, apparently of traumatic origin, that must
not be confused with eosinophilic granuloma which forms parto
f histiocytosis “X”. It starts in an acute form, with no apparent
explanation, and localizes mainly in the tongue.
It resembles a burn; there is deep infiltration and pain,
and sometimes a malodorous crusting. The ulcer , approximately
2 cm in diameter, appears after the removal of the necrosed
tissue and is hard in its deep portion.
